“CURFEW AND LOCKDOWN IN KENYA TO END SOON”

YESTERDAY THE PROMISE OF PRESIDENT KENYATTA

The national curfew, at least in some counties of Kenya, could end soon. This was stated by President of the Republic Uhuru Kenyatta during his speech yesterday morning at the government building.
According to Kenyatta, not only could the curfew from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. be suspended before 7 June, but several counties in Kenya could resume movement in and out of their territorial limits, as has been happening for 50 days now.
"I have announced to officials of the Ministry of Health and my ministers that they can begin to reassure the Kenyans," the President said, "we cannot go on forever with the curfew regime or even with the isolation of some regions. Just as we cannot force our citizens to stay at home, not be able to reopen their activities or go to work.
During the presentation of the economic recovery plan in which 54 billion shillings will be injected, Kenyatta promised that he will soon issue a decree relaxing the measures.
The decree of closure of activities and obligation not to go out from night to morning was adopted for the Coronavirus emergency in the country last March 27, in order to protect the health and life of citizens. Two days earlier, the Government had closed international airports for thirty days. This decision had already been extended twice and extended to the whole of next June 6.
